Real estate group launches Google-powered mapping system

Australia, 1 Aug 2006: Harcourts, a real estate group has launch its Google-powered mapping system on www.harcourts.co.nz property listings in what the company says is an Australasian first. The website now offers street map and satellite imagery to pinpoint house listings. Harcourts chief information officer Jason Wills says Web research is an increasingly popular method of home hunting.

The initiative tyaken by the company includes everything from multiple photos on property listings, early mapping systems, Chinese and other language options, right through to highly sophisticated ‘Personal Notifier’ which automatically emails registrants with properties meeting their criteria, and was later relaunched with the option to text people’s mobile phones directly.
