Raytheon submits proposal for NOAA’s environmental satellite ground segment

AURORA, Colo., USA, Feb. 6, 2009: Raytheon has submitted its final proposal for the development of the ground segment for NOAA’s (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) next-generation Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite R series, known as GOES-R.

When launched, GOES-R will deliver significant technological advancements to provide sustained, reliable collection, analysis and distribution of data from the atmosphere, oceans, land and sun. This will empower more responses by the National Weather Service, other NOAA offices and other agencies to emergency situations and the overall ability to recognize, understand and predict climate change.
