More than a handful of Quad-Cities area municipalities have joined together to save taxpayers money by forming a partnership for an aerial photography contract. The project, which is estimated to save up to 40 percent from originally budgeted costs, will produce photos of all properties in Muscatine, Scott and Rock Island, Illinois, counties.
It will even extend into Iowa’s Henry County. The photos will be used as part of the municipalities’ GIS, which helps to map the area.
Officials say the 500-thousand-dollar contract will be offered to Kucera International of Cleveland, Ohio. The work will be done during March and April. The project is expected to be completed early next year.
