Qatar: Qatar Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has selected enterprise IT vendor IBM to provide better road and drainage infrastructure in Qatar. IBM will supply the new system to enhance the quality of services, safety and green efforts in Qatar. The company did not share financial details.
Ashghal and IBM will deploy an Enterprise Asset Management Solution (EAMS) to manage the operation and maintenance of roads and drainage networks and multiple effluent and water treatment plants. The project is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. The IBM solution will enable Ashghal to evaluate and respond to defects reported by citizens and anticipate and prevent problems.
Mobile devices will support Ashghal to plan work needs, determine resource availability and ensure the right crew responds with the right materials and tools. The system will analyse information about the road and drainage assets through a Geographic Information System (GIS) to allow the location of assets or work to be determined and tracked in real time.
Qatar Public Works Authority will benefit from insight into the condition of pipes buried underground in specific locations and the road network. This will reduce the frequency of maintenance interventions, which will help reduce traffic congestion and increase public safety.
