PRTC launches buses with GIS in India

Member of Parliament in India, Preneet Kaur has launched the website of the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) and flagged off the new buses with GIS in Punjab. The GIS, which is based on the GPS, will help the corporation provide better services to the passengers. It would enable PTRC to ensure that buses run as per schedule on all routes, besides, depot managers will be able to check unauthorized stops by the drivers. The basic set up is being provided by Airtel which is one of the mobile companies in the country. Presently, the corporation is all set for a trial test of the system on 12 buses plying on different routes in the state and is likely to fix the device in all its fleet in due course.

The corporation has sought a grant from the Union Ministry of Information and Technology. The corporation has decided to computerize all depots and central offices for which a computer section has already been set-up in the corporation.
