Singapore: Prof AR Dasgupta, Managing Editor, Geospatial World, has been elected to the Board of Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) Association. This has been announced on the eve of the association’s annual conference, GSDI-12, being organised in Singapore from 19-22 October.
Prof Dasgupta will represent the Asia-Pacific region on the GSDI Board of Directors. He will replace Li Weisen of State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping, China. Prof Dasgupta has had a distinguished career with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Government of India and is a pioneer in geospatial technology in India. He has significant and original contributions in convergence of information and communications technologies in the area of geospatial systems and applications, notably on Spatial Data Infrastructures. He is associated with several academic institutes in India and is a member of national and international professional bodies.
The GSDI Board is multi-national and includes representatives from all continents and all sectors, including government, commercial, non-profit and academia. Each Board member is elected by full members and serves a specific term.
