Power distribution through mobile GIS

Canada: Nova Scotia Power is enhancing its model of electrical distribution system by using mobile GIS technology. The three-year GIS Connectivity Project will result in an accurate digital representation of an expansive system that was formerly modeled using original draftsmen’s drawings.

The electric utility manages USD 3.5 billion worth of generation, transmission and distribution assets across a 15,500-mile system that serves nearly half-a-million residential, commercial and industrial customers.
