PlatiNet chooses ESRI GIS technology for development of its LBS system

ESRI, the world’s leading provider of GIS software, announced that PlatiNet Communications in Israel has chosen ArcSDE for spatial data management in PlatiNet’s QuickOn location-based services (LBS) system and infrastructure. Systematics Technologies, ESRI’s distributor in Israel, will support the PlatiNet implementation.

PlatiNet’s QuickOn system allows mobile operators to quickly deliver a wide assortment of LBS to their customers. The PlatiNet system is currently operational in Orange’s network, a leading mobile operator that provides location-based services to its subscriber base.
The QuickOn system enables cellular operators to supply a wide range of smart, value-added services such as voice-portal, location-based, conferencing, entertainment and leisure, and advanced network services.

The accompanying QuickOn Service Switch enables rapid development, integration, and implementation of services, combining voice, data, and messaging on the wireless network.
ESRI’s ArcSDE, which is being used as the infrastructure for the system, is considered the leading scalable spatial server in the world. ArcSDE has been selected as the geographic information system (GIS) infrastructure for hundreds of applications worldwide that require high performance, full GIS functionality, and a wide variety of interfaces.
