PlanGraphics has been providing information technology planning and support services to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) to support its environmental public health tracking program (EPHT) initiative. The purpose of the assignment is to improve systems and procedures for gathering, disseminating, and using environmental health information to enhance public health programs in the City. It is designed to be compatible with national efforts and data management standards from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. PlanGraphics is helping DOHMH personnel assess current information systems and training needs for environmental health tracking. With the DOHMH , the project will include a wide spectrum of public health professionals from multiple City agencies. Information will be gathered through a series of survey forms and focus group sessions. PlanGraphics will prepare a number of deliverables, culminating in recommendations and a plan for information technology implementation. This plan will provide a foundation for an integrated information management infrastructure for managing environmental health information.
PlanGraphics, in cooperation with the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT), is also providing IT design and implementation services for several key initiatives that support the EPHT program. This includes Web-based tools for a database survey, applying Geosupport services for the DOHMH Adult Lead Database and the design and development of a prototype application for integration of information from several disparate databases. PlanGraphics is also providing general support for GIS and other information technology tasks.
