India: Defense Estates Department has physically surveyed approximately 12,32,000 acres of defense land, which is around 70% of the total defense land. It also includes around 2,00,000 acres of high value lands. The Director General of Defense Estates Ravi Kant Chopra has assured that all defense holdings would be physically surveyed and mapped before the end of the next year.

“With land survey, digitisation of land records and inventorisation of all files, the Department aims to create a comprehensive institutional memory, both in paper and electronic formats, which shall keep track of every event in relation to defense lands,” said Chopra.
