Philippines: A land resources assessment and fertility mapping is currently being undertaken in the whole province of Palawan by the provincial government, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), and Department of Agriculture (DA)-Region IV-B in cooperation with the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM) to help farmers and fisher folks.
Engineer Teresita Guian of the OPA said a team of assessors is now in the southern Palawan town of Sofronio Espanola for the assessment and fertility mapping to study the quality of its soil.
The mapping aims to help farmers and fisher folks, especially seaweed farmers, choose the ideal crops to plant with the quality of soil in their municipalities. This is to ensure that they will have more yields during harvesting time.
