Peru’s Geoservidor wins best practice award

Peru: The Geoservidor, an online tool for geospatial information dissemination in Peru, implemented by the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) received the Best Practices in Public Management 2011 award, by Citizens Day (in Spanish CAD), a private non-profit organisation that provides incentives and tools to improve the relationship between the state and citizenship,.

The Geoservidor was launched in May 2010 and the same year it won the Latin American Award for Excellence in GIS, by ESRI. It has strategic partnership with the Peru’s national agency in charge of protected areas (in Spanish SERNANP), the Peruvian geology, mining and metallurgy agency (in Spanish INGEMMET) and the Ministry of Agriculture for data dissemination.
