Peru: Peru will launch its first satellite in 2014. The satellite will be used to keep a tight vigil on the borders and for fighting against drug trafficking. It will also be used in natural disaster management and land use planning.

Currently, Peru buys satellite imagery from foreign satellites. The country has now planned to buy a satellite of its own. “Today, we have the will and the budget to buy our own satellite,” said Ana Maria Solorzano, president of the Congressional Intelligence Committee.
