PCI Geomatics announced that the current Eduserv Chest agreement for Geomatica software – which applies to educational institutes in the U.K. and Ireland – has been renewed for three more years.
Under the PCI Geomatics Chest agreement, educational organisations can rent Geomatica and eCognition software for remote sensing, photogrammetry, and GIS at low cost on a site license basis. The eCognition software package – which provides rule-based knowledge image analysis and classification – is available with or without Geomatica as an option under the agreement. Eduserv Chest negotiates for all forms of commercial electronic resources (software, courseware, abstracts, full text, journals, etc) available for the education and research communities in the U.K., Ireland, and various other groups.
In most cases, Chest manages the resultant agreements and makes the derived benefits as widely available as possible. The process is driven by user demand and the need to provide higher monetary value for educational and research groups.
