On February 28, 2002, PCI Geomatics was among nine companies celebrating the opening of the new Innovation Acceleration Centre (IAC) in Ottawa, Canada. IAC is a cooperative effort aimed at uniting government and industry in the collaboration and commercialisation of research and development initiatives.
Maurizio Bevilacqua, Secretary of State (Science, Research and Development), on behalf of the Honorable Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), officially opened the Centre. PCI Geomatics was also among several key industry representatives invited to give a keynote address, and to present their most recent initiative involving the development of new
hyperspectral data processing technologies based on CCRS’ Imaging Spectrometer Data Analysis System (ISDAS), and the Canadian Space Agency’s (CSA’s) Hyperspectral Image Browser (HIBR).
The ISDAS and HIBR technologies are being integrated within Geomatica(tm) as part of three projects recently awarded by the Canadian Space Agency under the Earth Observation Applications Development Program (EOADP). The new hyperspectral tools within Geomatica will be applicable for a number of commercial applications including agriculture, exploration and mineral exploration, and forestry. PCI Geomatics will be able to provide hyperspectral data users with a software solution that will not only enable them to analyze and visualize their hyperspectral data, but also integrate this data with other geospatial data.
