Abuja, Nigeria: Office of the Surveyor-General of the Federation (OSGOF) and Nigerian Institute of Surveyors, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) branch have partnered to promote surveying profession. One of their top priorities is to increase surveying and mapping practices in the country.
Surv. Austin PC Njepuome, Surveyor-General of the Federation praised the executive members for their role in uplifting the profession. Enumerating some of the achievement made so far, the Surveyor-General said a lot of progress had been made in the area of mapping as provisional copies of the 12th Edition of the Administrative Map of Nigeria have been presented in front of the State Governors and National Boundary Commission (NBC) for their comments after which the presidency will give approval for it to be released to the public.
Surv. Ganiyu Agbaje, Chairman of NIS FCT Chapter, said as many developmental projects are going on, surveyors have a lot of roles to play to enable the politicians achieves their developmental promises.
He challenged Surveyors in the FCT to always attend NIS meetings as this would make them to be acquainted with the happenings in the profession which in turn would prepare them better for the challenges ahead.
