Ordnance Survey is using its sponsorship of Europe’s biggest outdoor consumer show to celebrate the completion of one of the most comprehensive mapping projects of recent years. Tens of thousands of visitors to The Ordnance Survey Outdoors Show will be able to see the latest maps showing new countryside access areas across England and Wales.

Cartographers have worked since the summer of 2004 to revise 251 separate OS Explorer Maps – more than half the entire series – to include access land opened up under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act. The final titles will become available before Easter, and visitors to the show – at the NEC, Birmingham on 17-19 March – can talk face to face with the experts who make OS Explorer Maps and the many other series of Ordnance Survey maps of Great Britain.
