U.S: In a first, online gamers will be able use satellite imagery to identify the worst hit areas in typhoons, hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis.

Internet Response League (IRL) has developed a plug-in to be placed within popular online games. If a disaster occurs, the plug-in will trigger a pop-up. The pop-up will tell the gamers to go through images (circulated on the Internet) to find out the worst hit areas. The gamers will be able to tag each image depending on the scene. When a number of gamers have tagged the same photo as ‘severe’ and there is consensus that the location is badly damaged, the data will be passed on to aid agencies to let them know where their immediate help is needed.
