ONGC awards pipeline inspection survey to Fugro

India: Fugro Survey (India) has been awarded a pipeline inspection survey contract by the state owned Oil and Gas Company, ONGC. The contract is worth approximately EURO 5 million and involves acoustic inspection of all subsea pipelines in the West Coast of India offshore Mumbai, India. The total length of pipelines is approximately 5400 km which includes trunk lines and infield lines. The work will be carried out post monsoon from mid-September 2010 to March 2011.

The project will involve deployment of Multibeam Echosounder, Side Scan Sonar, Pinger Profile along with Fugro’s high performance Starfix DGPS system to map the pipeline assets accurately, in the first phase. Subsequently, a ROTV (Remotely Operated Towed Vehicle will be deployed to inspect the Trunk pipelines in more detail.

Fugro owned Survey vessel Flambouyan will be mobilised for the project. To complete the inspection work a ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) will be deployed to carry out detailed inspection of critical sections of the pipelines. This type of survey is carried out at five-year intervals by ONGC for monitoring of the integrity of pipelines.
