OmniEarth partners with Ball Aerospace

US, November 7, 2014: Data analytics and imaging company OmniEarth has partnered with Ball Aerospace on a constellation of 18 earth imaging satellites, which is scheduled for deployment by 2018.

According to a report published by Forbes, in addition to the high quality of the instrumentation, OmniEarth satellites will also fly in overlapping configurations, meaning that at a single point in time, the constellation can take satellite photos nearly 200 km wide.

OmniEarth CEO Lars Dyrud told media that the effort was part of company’s plans to focus on small, low-cost satellites. “We’re not a satellite company,” said Dryud. “We’re an information company.”
