The Enterprise for Innovative Geospatial Solutions (EIGS) has announced the member company, NVision Solutions was recently selected as one of 290 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) proposals for Phase 1 contract negotiations with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The NASA SBIR contracts will be awarded to 219 small high technology firms in 36 states. In Mississippi, 3 firms will receive 4 awards.
NVision’s SBIR project will investigate a customer-initiated ordering system for remotely sensed data. With the availability of remote sensed data improving with the launch of each new high-resolution satellite, the ability of commercial and government entities to efficiently share or sell the data has presented major challenges. NVision intends to exploit recent improvements in advanced computing environments and processing algorithms to provide on demand products with a “no minimum purchase” requirement.
The goals of the NASA SBIR program are to: stimulate technological innovation; increase the use of small business, including women-owned and disadvantaged firms, such as NVision Solutions, in meeting federal research and development needs; and increase private sector.
