Northern BC GIS Users Group wins ESRI Canada’s Award of Excellence

Prince George, BC – The Northern BC GIS Users Group received ESRI Canada’s Award of Excellence at the Regional User Conference in Prince George, BC. The award was presented to recognise the Group’s success in connecting GIS users across Northern BC, providing a local network of support and a platform to share knowledge.

The Northern BC GIS Users Group is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to promote the use of GIS and connect people working in spatial enterprises so that they can exchange ideas, network, and keep abreast of a rapidly changing industry.

The Group holds regular conferences and workshops where GIS users from government, academia, industry and First Nations come together to discuss the latest industry trends and challenges. Participants with comprehensive GIS experience share information to help other participants integrate the technology into their own infrastructure.

Despite budget and resourcing limitations that are faced by most Northern community groups, the Northern BC GIS Users Group has proven to be a viable and resourceful entity that continues to increase in overall numbers.
