Canada, 15 May 2007: North West Geomatics has announced that it’s previously released western Canadian LiDAR acquisition program is well underway.

Acquisition is continuing in south and central Alberta until snow has completely left the priority foothills regions. Priority areas have been established in conjunction with several key industry partners and will define initial acquisition regions. Approximately 10% of the planned area has been acquired to date.

The company has announced that the first products from this program will be available commencing in mid-June and will continue throughout the year as acquisition is completed.

The total acquisition program is to acquire up to 700,000 square km of high density LiDAR data over a majority of the province of Alberta and portions of NE British Columbia and Saskatchewan. The acquisition will continue for the balance of the collection season in 2007 and may be extended into 2008 if required. The DEM data and a number of derivative products will be housed and distributed through partnership with Valtus Imagery Services using Valtus’ suite of web delivery products.
