Nominations open for Asia Geospatial Excellence Awards 2012

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: With an aim to recognise and encourage innovations and developments by geospatial technology developers, professionals, end users and policy makers in the Asia Pacific region, Geospatial Media and Communications will confer awards and recognitions for exemplary innovations and practices in the Asian geospatial industry. The last date for nominations submission is 31st July 2012 and can be done online at https://www.asiageospatialforum.org.

The awardees shall be selected through a process and eventually judged by a technical committee. The awards shall be presented under the auspices of Asia Geospatial Forum 2012, being held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 17-19 September 2012.

Nominations for these prestigious awards are encouraged from all projects from Asia for the following categories:

Geospatial Excellence Awards – For exemplary usage of geospatial tools implemented in Asia in various fields, such as governance, infrastructure, public safety, utilities, design and engineering, environment, agriculture, mining and exploration, transportation management, business intelligence, insurance and disaster management.

Geospatial Technology Innovation Awards – For innovations and developments in geospatial technology in Asia or having an Asian collaboration. The technologies include remote sensing, photogrammetry, LiDAR, 3D modelling, cartography, Web GIS, mobile mapping, enterprise GIS and topographic surveying instruments.

Geospatial Policies and Programs Awards – For policy makers and implementers whose work directly impacts development of geospatial science, technology and business in Asia.

The Asia Geospatial Excellence Awards was first introduced in 2010 and has so far named 17 winners under its brand.
