Nigeria attracts $212 million in power sector

Nigeria, October 2, 2014: A consortium of American companies have indicated interest in investing over $212 million in renewable energy in Abuja and Kano State.

According to the proposal submitted by the US consortium led by James C. Nicholas, executive partner of Global Business Resources to the Ministry of Power, besides putting together a framework for the construction of the two plants, the consortium is prepared to undertake GIS mapping for renewable energy to facilitate rural electrification projects on a Public-Private Partnership agreement.

The consortium of US investors had a follow-up discussions with the executive secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Saratu Umar for investing in two 50-megawatt solar-powered plants.

The consortium includes the following four US companies: Global Business Resources, FlatBush Solar, Global Resources Network and Charbourne & Parke, LLP.
