NGIS Australia helps Pacific Islands with sea-level rise

Australia: NGIS Australia was awarded the GIS training and capacity building contract for Tonga, PNG, Vanuatu and Samoa by the Cooperative Research Centre for Spatial Information (CRCSI) and the Department of Industry, Innovation, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education (DIICCSRTE) as part of the Pacific-Australia Climate Change Science and Adaptation Planning Program (PACCSAP) Coastal Inundation Project.

The project’s goal is to develop the capacity within each Pacific Island to manage and use LiDAR data to support local sea-level rise planning and decision making in Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu and Samoa.
