US: NextNav, a US-based indoor location provider, has signed a technology licensing agreement with GNSS semiconductor manufacturer Broadcom.

NextNav Metropolitan Beacon System (MBS) is a “terrestrial constellation,” which brings GNSS-like performance to indoor and urban environments where satellite-based positioning is either unavailable or significantly degraded. NextNav’s solution also offers reliable vertical accuracy (down to the floor level). According to the agreement, Broadcom can “integrate NextNav”s advanced location technology into its mass-market global navigation satellite system (GNSS), connectivity and mobility platforms.” NextNav-enabled GPS chipsets do not require connectivity to provide a location so the technology is also perfectly fit for consumer electronics and IT devices such as cameras, PNDs, laptops and more.
