Newly formed ESRI Finland plans to expand the use of GIS

ESRI, announced the formation of ESRI Finland Oy from the recent reorganization of Novo Meridian Oy, the former Finnish distributor of ESRI’s GIS software products and services.

Rickard Zetterberg will take up the role of chief executive officer of the newly formed ESRI Finland. Observes Zetterberg, “While we will be operating under a new name, the transition from Novo Meridian to ESRI Finland will be transparent to our customers who have become accustomed to superior support and service. We are positioning our new company to focus even more intently on the local market and expand the use of GIS to a wide variety of industries and applications.” Observes Jack Dangermond, ESRI president,

“Novo Meridian, as a subsidiary of WM-data Novo Plc, will form with Novosat a new GIS business unit that will continue as an ESRI business partner providing GIS products, solutions, and expert services to customers and other business units of WM-data organizations in all Nordic countries,” comments Ilkka Kukkonen, vice president of WM-data Novo, of his future GIS plans.

ESRI Finland is owned by the GISFocus group and will provide support, training, and sales of ESRI software in the Finnish market. Ten staff members, with many years of experience with ESRI software and various GIS projects, join the company. The company’s headquarters is in Espoo, Finland.
