Research & Development Center ScanEx is a Russian private company providing full-integrated solutions for satellite remote sensing applications. Technologies for Earth imagery collection, dissemination and problem-solving use spanning areas of electronic engineering, software development, image processing, large volume archive management, remote sensing and associated GIS techniques form this russian firm’s area of work.

The R & D Centre of ScanEx developed a new version 1.5 of image processing software ScanMagic. The software provides for fast displaying images up to 4 GB. The new version supports more than 70 cartographic projections and can directly access a large number of image and GIS formats. ScanMagic by RDC ScanEx (www.scanex.ru) is a MDI application for Microsoft Windows 98/2000/XP environment with modern, intuitive and easy-to-use graphical user interface.

ScanMagic is based on modern fast and effective techniques of image processing.
ScanMagic provides for very fast displaying images up to 4 GB in Grayscale and RGB modes with arbitrary scaling and contrast; automatic geographical and cartographical location of imported images, as well as manual location as per “image-to-map” and “image-to-image” techniques; overlaying digital maps in ESRI Shapefile format on the image; “on-the-fly” image transformation to map projection and mosaicking (ScanMagic supports more than 70 cartographic projections and more than 40 ellipsoids); direct access to a large number of GIS and image file formats.
