New programmes to meet demand for surveyors

Singapore: Building Construction Authority Academy (BCAA) and Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) will jointly introduce several academic programmes such as diploma, specialist diploma and degree courses. They aim to train quantity surveyors, land surveyors, valuers and property managers to meet the market demand which is rising due to new developments in Singapore.

In addition, BCAA will work with SISV to initiate more dialogue sessions with firms in the industry to facilitate discussion on developing such capabilities. To further promote and advance quantity surveying, land surveying, valuation and property management professions in Singapore, the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and the SISV signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the opening ceremony of the 7th International Cost Engineering Council World Congress and 14th Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors Congress 2010.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will share resources, promote educational programmes and jointly create and implement new products and services to drive the local building industry forward.

Dr Amy Khor, Mayor of the South West District and Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, witnessed the signing of the MOU together with 250 delegates from the Asia Pacific region.
