Asia: Thailand’s Treasury Department is currently testing a new mobile-based GIS system that could speed up land survey projects by 10 times.
The new drive is part of government strategy to digitise 100% of its land survey work.
The Department is testing 1000 mobile devices that allow surveyors to access the department’s database and accurately update state land use information in real-time.
Using GPS, these devices accurately track locations in addition to enabling officers to take photos of the lands. The data can also be shared with other government departments, businesses and the public and managed through an online map.
