New editor at Royal Institute of Navigation

UK: The Royal Institute of Navigation (RIN) appointed Alan Peacock as a new editor for Journal of Navigation. In autumn 2011, Alan will join RIN. He will replace Journal Editor Norman Hughes.

For the past 13 years, Alan has been associated with the UK maritime community where he was responsible for modernising and re-writing the Admiralty Manuals of Navigation.

“The Journal of Navigation is one of our flagship publications, carrying the best navigation research – and the reputation of the RIN – around the world,” said Institute Director Peter Chapman-Andrews. “Alan embodies the three worlds of knowledge needed by the Journal Editor. He has been a practical navigator for many years. He understands the academic rigour required of new research; and he has the editorial experience to ensure the reputation of the Journal, and the Institute, remains unrivalled for years to come.”
