New e-governance system for Delhi

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Infosys’ eGovernment Foundation. In a bid to plug in revenue leakages, the MCD decided to use Information Technology in a big way. Infosys’ e-government will begin work by providing key Municipal e-governance applications at the MCD for free. The nonprofitable trust aims to improve governance in India.

With the help of this software, citizens will have Municipal information at the click of a mouse. This system will help save the time and cost. The MoU seeks to further the process of IT applications in the areas of property tax, public grievances, GIS applications and fund-based accounting. Infosys introduced this system in Bangalore earlier. This is for the first time that it decided to join hands with the MCD. Within a span of one year, the foundation ensures to have the system working in the civic body.
This would further help in bringing transparency in the methodology.
