New Director Of FEMA’s Office Of National Preparedness Appointed

Bruce P. Baughman has been appointed director of the Office of National Preparedness (ONP) for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), FEMA Director Joe M. Allbaugh announced. The Office of National Preparedness is located at FEMA headquarters in Washington, DC and works closely with the White House Office of Homeland Security in the coordination all federal programs related to terrorism preparedness and weapons of mass destruction consequence management.”Bruce’s 27 years of emergency management experience make him an ideal selection as the new ONP director,” said Allbaugh. “His knowledge of the needs and capabilities of state and local first responders combined with his experience working with all the agencies involved in consequence management will be invaluable.” Since joining FEMA in 1979, Baughman has held key management positions on more than 90 Presidentially declared disasters and emergencies that have occurred throughout the United States and its territories. Most recently he has been the director of the Planning and Readiness Division, Readiness, Response and Recovery Directorate at FEMA headquarters.
