The programmes for 2006-07 include application of remote sensing and GIS technology in North-East to undertake activities such as natural resource census of the region, large-scale mapping of selected towns, the Loktak peripheral area development study in Manipur and road re-alignment study for Sikkim. A number of village resource centres with VSAT connectivity would be set up in each north-eastern state with Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur covered under the ‘Edusat’ project.
