NAVTEQ, global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, has released its first map of Alaska and the United States Virgin Islands to its direct customers. The completion of NAVTEQ's first map of Alaska facilitates for the first time full cross-continent routing — from, to and through Canada, the United States and Mexico.
The availability of a map of the U.S. Virgin Islands marks the completion of NAVTEQ's initiative to provide a map covering virtually the entire population of the U.S., an achievement critical to many NAVTEQ customers.
With over 2,000 miles of roadway, the NAVTEQ map of Alaska provides detailed road network coverage of the two most heavily populated cities, Anchorage and Fairbanks-Denali, making possible routing to addresses throughout these cities. The product also includes all interstate and state highways, connector roads between cities and the Aleutian Islands and several other major island chains.
