NASA puts eyes on satellites

US: NASA's satellite-inspection robot is now equipped with a micro camera, thanks to a medical technology company in Israel. This company is called Medigus. Its micro ScoutCam is just 1.2 millimeters in diameter. It was designed as a part of surgeon’s endoscope. NASA’s Visual Inspection Poseable Invertebrate Robot, or VIPIR, now has this camera fitted onto the end of a 34-inch deployable video borescope. This borescope’s tip can articulate up to 90 degrees in four opposing directions to probe satellites. Space assets cost hundreds of billions of dollars. It is essential to have eyes on them. And this new camera is doing just that.
