Monitoring agricultural development in Brazil

Brazil: The NMA and the Bureau of Agricultural Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) have signed a cooperation agreement to improve the observation and monitoring system of agriculture in Brazil (Soma Brazil Programme). The agreement will also help in development of geospatial applications for analysis of agricultural risk.

Launched in November last year, Soma Brazil integrates tabular data and information generated by satellites for monitoring of agricultural activities and is available in the form of Web GIS. The applications developed will support the generation of spatial analysis and reporting from the intersection of information on national, regional, state and municipal.
