Microsoft Live Search Maps launches 3D imagery for New York city

USA, 29 May 2007: Microsoft Live Search Maps service has begun offering 3D views of New York City landscapes. The free online service will provide New York’s locations, along with local listings, ratings and reviews and driving directions to help users to get relevant local information.

The Live Search Maps 3-D New York cityscape provides the following:

  • Landmarks, locations
  • Business listings ( Yellow Pages listings, location and contact information, consumer ratings and reviews for New York City businesses)
  • Maps and driving directions ( Real-time traffic incident and driving directions incorporated into maps)
  • Custom Collections ( Custom maps and lists of places that people can create for their own use or to share with others )

    Microsoft initially launched its Virtual Earth 3D live search on Nov. 6, 2006 for 15 U.S. Cities which included: San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Detroit, Phoenix, Houston, Baltimore, Atlanta, Denver, Dallas and Fort Worth.

    In addition, Microsoft will launch 3D cityscapes of the following:

  • Austin, Texas
  • Cape Coral, Floridaa.
  • Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Indianapolis
  • Northampton, England
  • Ottawa, Canada
  • Savannah, Georgia
  • Tampa, Florida
