Merrick & Company, announced a new $395,000 contract to deliver color digital orthophotography and updated planimetric features to be used in the City of Glendale’s GIS. The digital orthophotography will be created from new aerial photography and will be produced at 3 inch and 6 inch pixel resolutions to meet United States National Map Accuracy Standards. Merrick will deliver new and updated planimetric data (such as building foot prints, transportation features, parks, sidewalks, streams, and ridgelines), an updated digital terrain model (DTM), updated one and two foot contours, and spot elevations as ArcInfo coverages on CD-ROM. “Since 1992 more and more City departments have been using the mapping and GIS data in their daily work flow,” explains A’Hearn. “This project with Merrick enables to offer new and updated mapping and GIS data for various departments throughout the city. In addition to local residents and consulting companies, the new and updated data will be utilized in the departments of Engineering, Traffic and Transportation, Planning, Water, Parks, Fire, Power, and the Redevelopment Agency.
