Merrick and Company receives topographic mapping contract

Minnesota, USA, 06 June 2007: Merrick & Company announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide LiDAR data, 2-foot contours, a DEM, and digital orthophotography of the Minnesota region.

The data gathered by Merrick and company will be utilized to monitor the Crow Wing County’s land use and land cover changes and then to assist the process of planning and site development. Camp Ripley, a Minnesota National Guard facility focusing on environmental sustainability and improvement, will use the LiDAR data to map vegetation coverage and model critical habitat for birds and other wildlife. The wetlands boundaries will be mapped and used in conjunction with hydrology data for assessing the feasibility of restoring the wild rice habitat.
