MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd. announced that the company’s Geographic Information Products Group has been awarded a $2.1 million (CDN) order by an Asian customer for information products from RADARSAT-1. RADARSAT-1 is a reliable source of data as it works in all kinds of weather conditions and darkness. Asia’s tropical climate brings heavy rainfall and cloud cover to the region. RADARSAT-1 information is used for a variety of purposes, primarily as an input to rice yield forecasting models and the mapping of rice acreage. It’s also used for defence, ship monitoring, and pollution control.
