MCH to use GIS to track garbage vans

The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) in India will soon introduce an Automatic Vehicle Tracking System to ensure better sanitation in the city. Under the plan, the movement of garbage-lifting vehicles will be monitored with GIS so that anomalies in the process can be avoided and there are no complaints of garbage not being lifted. With this system, the officials can analyse clearing and skipping of garbage points by the vehicles, speed violation and time taken to reach the specific points. The software will also help in generating detail information about unauthorised stoppages and even breakdown of the vehicles.
