Martin Daly of Cadcorp wins OpenGIS award

In recognition of his many contributions to the development of OpenGIS Specifications and to the advancement of the vision of interoperable geoprocessing, Martin Daly, Technical Director, Cadcorp has been awarded with this year’s Kenneth D. Gardels Award by the Open GIS Consortium (OGC).

The solid gold, boxed medal was presented in Southampton, England on 17th June 2004 by Dr Mike Jackson, an OGC Director. The award constitutes the highest recognition of technical achievement, vision and leadership that can be bestowed upon an individual by the OGC. This is the first time the Gardels Award has been given to an European.

Martin was the main author and is the editor of the OpenGIS Coordinate Transformation Services Specification and he participated in developing several other OpenGIS implementation specifications. He wrote the compliance tests for the Grid Coverages and Coordinate Transformation Services specifications.
