Australia: The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in association with Japanese scientists prepared the world’s most sophisticated geosciences maps, ABC reported. The map is available on the Australian Department of Mining and Petroleum’s website. The report claimed that the maps could have major benefits for Western Australia’s mining industry.
The maps provide new information to geologists about the underground rock and soil formation of the state. The CSIRO’s Thomas Cudahy said, “It is an exciting time, there’s a new generation of these systems coming on-stream. It will empower the geologists exploring in Australia with mineralogy which they haven’t had in the past.”
