Sri Lanka: Aerial photography of Sri Lanka will commence next year for the purpose of drafting a 1 in 10,000 scale map of Sri Lanka. According to the Sri Lankan Survey Department, the map will include the Northern and Eastern areas of the country as well.

Surveying of all lands — including private, industrial, tourist, state and cultivated lands — will be conducted and included in the map. Steps will be taken to reserve land for future development ventures, said S. M. W. Fernando, Surveys General, Sri Lanka. “With this, the development process of the North will also be expedited,” Fernando added.
