Mapping San Francisco’s most speeding-plagued streets

US: A cartography lover and teacher at San Francisco State University has created a new online map on Mapbox to show which San Francisco streets have the worst speeding problems.

The map uses data sourced from SFMTA engineering and traffic surveys

The map created by Stephanie May, who works for the SF-based organisation Urban Mapping and teaches cartography at SF State University and history at Stanford, uses data sourced from SFMTA engineering and traffic surveys.

May accepts that the map is just a start and that the available data has a lot of gaps. The data is based on the speed surveys which are typically done only in response to complaints from residents. The data is also a bit dated, collected between 2004 and 2010.
