MapInfo Corporation, provider of location-intelligence solutions , announced that Agilent Technologies Inc. will use MapInfo’s MapXtreme and StreetPro to offer communications service providers a location-intelligent operations support system (OSS). Under the terms of the agreement, MapInfo location technology will be embedded in Agilent’s NETeXPERT GIS solution, enabling users to quickly and easily locate and respond to network problems and offer improved customer service. With MapInfo’s location analysis and visualization technology, NETeXPERT GIS users can:– Quickly identify hot spots and then perform analysis based on colors, severity, etc. — View very large networks that span multiple geographies in one single image — Create forecasting reports to help planners determine where growth is taking place and locate appropriate regions for network build-out — Quickly determine high-growth and low-use areas — Develop plans to grow current customer base in specific regions MapInfo’s Internet mapping server MapXtreme Java and its StreetPro data are embedded in Agilent’s NETeXPERT GIS, enabling users to monitor critical network elements in real-time at the real location. NETeXPERT GIS enables users to pinpoint faults and performance thresholds by geographic location upon multi-layered maps. Users can then start at global views and immediately drill down to street-level views to locate high-severity network and service problems. MapInfo’s location technology is used in all areas of network planning, from original network build-out to network expansion analysis to the efficient management of existing networks, said Mike Agron, managing director, channel sales, partner & business development, MapInfo. MapInfo’s location technology enables NETeXPERT GIS users to monitor their networks in one single view for enhanced customer service and network planning analysis.
