London, UK, 09 May 2007: MapInfo Corporation announced that the Institute of IT Trainers (IITT) has approved the extension of the MapInfo Business Applications’ existing status of IITT Accredited
Training Provider with the provision of the Gold Standard Award in recognition of excellence in its training functions.

The endorsement is expected to present a guarantee to MapInfo clients that all trainers used to provide external training services possess a valid Certification of Training Skills. Critically, it recognizes MapInfo training consultants as both product specialists and as practitioners of excellence in training its customers.

“This is a tremendous stamp of approval for our training consultants across EMEA”, says Philip Atkinson, Training Manager UK, MapInfo. He adds,”We are committed to the highest standard of training and adoption of best practice, so this accreditation provides a valuable third party endorsement to our customers, further demonstrating that they are in safe and expert hands, every step of the way.”

The IITT assessors seek evidence that all trainers carry a valid certificate from the Institute’s Certificate of IT Training Skills which is issued following successful assessment in a live training environment
against the TAP methodology or alternative recognised certification, the Gold Standard is deemed valid for twelve months.

“This award presents a consistent benchmark of excellence driving the MapInfo Services team to maintain standards and continue to pass muster to achieve the accreditation in coming years,” said Atkinson.
