MapInfo Corporation has announced that it received a Market Engineering Award in location-based services from Frost & Sullivan. The award, given for Product Line Strategy, is presented to a company that demonstrates the most insight into customer needs and product demands. Frost & Sullivan presents the 2001 Marketing Engineering Awards to companies that have made a positive contribution to the mobile location-based services industry. MapInfo’s location-based technology for mobile devices enables businesses to better understand their markets, customers and assets. For example, a sales force can access valuable customer information based on their current location in order to maximize productivity and a wireless carrier can offer consumers value-add services such as find the nearest movie theatre and driving directions.
